FeedTest - Season Average Results

The Spring 2012 weather was favourable this haymaking season and as a result the quality of hay has generally been excellent with early cutting and short curing times. However dry conditions since December 2012 have lowered the quality of late cut hay. FeedTest has compiled some averages from the samples tested in the first half of this season and it shows some interesting patterns.

Key Test Data Summary for January 2013

The monthly comparisons of Total Lots, Bales and Weight for January 2013 compared with the same period last season are:
+8.1%, +12.3% and +12.2% respectively.

Screening for Contamination in Wool

On average, the AWTA Ltd laboratory staff find contamination or non-wool material in the samples of four lots each and every week. After further investigation, usually involving the inspection of the wool by emptying the bales, about half of these lots are confirmed to contain contamination.
