Turnaround time: 3 working days Analysis Package: Cereal Grain Package (NIR) · For oats, wheat, triticale and barley grains or mixes of these. · All analyses by NIR. · Analyses: moisture, dry matter, crude protein, digestibility, energy and acid detergent fibre. Turnaround time: 3 working days Analysis Package: Pelleted Feed Package (NIR) · All analyses by NIR. · Analyses: moisture, dry matter, ash, crude protein, digestibility, energy, acid detergent fibre and fat. Turnaround time: 3 working days Note: A one working day turnaround is available for NIR packages. Analysis Package: Non-NIR Package · Applies to all feeds for which no NIR calibrations are available. These currently include mixed concentrate feeds, grain legumes (including lupins), by-products and unusual feeds. · All analyses by conventional methods. · Analyses: moisture, dry matter, crude protein, digestibility, energy and fat (where necessary). When sending your sample/s, please include a completed sample information sheet and either a cheque or credit card payment advice. Cheques should be made payable to: AWTA Ltd FODDER TESTING SPECIALISTS AWTA Ltd Trading as Agrifood Technology FEEDTEST, PO Box 728, Werribee, Vic 3030 Tel: 1300 655 474 Fax: 03 9742 3344 Email: feed.test@agrifood.com.au Web: www.feedtest.com.au Using FEEDTEST to meet the Protein, Fibre & Energy needs of livestock FEEDTEST provides accurate and fast feed analysis using the latest Near Infrared (NIR) technology. FEEDTEST will assist you to determine the nutritional value of your stock feed products. FEEDTEST is easy to use. Simply place your sample in the reply paid envelope provided, include the completed sample information sheet with payment and post it. For best results, refer to the sampling instructions on the back of the envelope. The FEEDTEST service usually includes analysis for the following constituents: Moisture The amount of water in the feed which may vary from around 10% for grains to over 80% for fresh pasture. Dry Matter (DM) The total feed minus the water content. Dry matter is important as all other feed analyses are expressed on a dry matter basis for comparison purposes. Crude Protein (CP) The amount of true protein (composed of amino acids) and non-protein nitrogen, expressed as a percentage of dry matter. Digestible Dry Matter (DDM) An estimate of the percentage of dry matter actually digested by animals. Metabolisable Energy (ME) The feed energy used by the animal, calculated from the digestible dry matter, and expressed as megajoules per kilogram of dry matter (MJ/kg DM). Acid Detergent Fibre (ADF) Estimates the proportion of the feed that is indegestible to stock. The lower the ADF, the higher the DDM (and ME). ADF is used to calculate DDM where there is limited information available from feeding trials. Neutral Detergent Fibre (NDF) The percentage of total cell wall material or plant structure in a feed. Normally the lower the NDF, the more the animal will eat. How long does FEEDTEST take? The rapid NIR technique provides a turnaround time of 3 working days for: 1) 2) 3) Fodder Quality Package Full analysis of hay, fresh cut pasture, pasture silage, maize, silage and straw. The non-NIR Feed Package applies to all feed samples for which NIR calibrations are not yet available. These currently include, mixed concentrated feeds, grain legumes, by-products and unusual feeds. Analysis for moisture, protein, digestibility and energy has a turnaround time of 10 working days. A wide range of minerals and trace elements are available on request with a turnaround time of 10 working days. Note: Turnaround time is taken from the time the sample is received in the FEEDTEST laboratory to the time the report is despatched. No responsibility can be taken for mail delays. It is important to note that the information provided cannot be expected to cover every feeding situation. More detailed advice should be obtained from your local extension specialist or private consultant. New NIR calibrations are progressively being developed for other feeds, and continually monitored and updated to ensure maximum possible accuracy and reliability. Cereal Grain Package Full analysis of oats, wheat, triticale and barley grains. Pelleted Feed Package Full analysis of pelleted mixed feeds.
