Long serving General Manager Doreen Fernandez – Announces Retirement from Agrifood Technology
Agrifood Technology General Manager Doreen Fernandez will retire on the 20वें of March 2026, concluding a remarkable career spanning more than three decades in the agrifood sector.
When AWTA Ltd acquired Agrifood Technology nearly 18 years ago, Doreen was serving as Laboratory Manager, having already worked with Agrifood Technology and AWB since 1991. Her passion for Agrifood Technology and its clients was evident from the outset and has remained a defining feature of her leadership throughout her tenure.
During her time with Agrifood Technology, Doreen progressed from Laboratory Manager to Divisional Manager and ultimately to General Manager, overseeing a period of significant growth and expansion in services offered by Agrifood Technology. Under her leadership, Agrifood Technology strengthened its reputation for technical excellence, client service and industry leadership.
While her departure marks the end of an era for the division, Doreen leaves behind a legacy of dedication, professionalism and sustained high performance.
Somayeh (Sam) Yazdkhast – To take on key leadership role at Agrifood Technology
Agrifood Technology is pleased to announce the appointment of Sam Yazdkhast to lead and manage the division after Doreen retires.
Sam has been with Agrifood Technology for approximately 12 years. During that time, her consistent and commendable performance has seen her progress from an analyst role to her current position managing Microbiological operations across Australia. Throughout her tenure, Sam has demonstrated a strong passion for Agrifood Technology and an outstanding ability to work effectively with staff at all levels of the organisation, as well as with suppliers, customers and regulators. Sam is also very familiar with many of our customers from her previous roles, working with them directly to develop strong relationships. These qualities and experiences provide an excellent foundation for her to lead the Division into its next phase.
Sam’s intellect, drive and leadership capability position her strongly to take on this role, complimented by the expertise and commitment of the Agrifood Technology team.
