Competition Objectives
· · · To conduct a commercial fleece competition utilising current technology to assist both the objective and subjective measurement criteria. To conduct a fleece competition which provides educational outcomes to competitors, wool growers and the industry at large. To conduct a fleece competition encompassing all main wool types.

Conditions of Entry
1. 2. Stud Breeders are not permitted to enter commercial sections. Fleeces should be intact and conventionally skirted and rolled to current industry standards. Any fleeces that are insufficiently skirted will have excess removed by stewards. Judges reserve the right to deduct points for colour & uniformity of length. Fleeces containing brands should not be submitted. Fleeces with brands will be penalised for colour. Landmark Wool Staff shall act as collection points for fleeces. Wooltrans Aust will transport fleeces to and from the show at no charge to the exhibitor from capital city depots within Australia, providing they meet cut off dates. All fleeces will be weighed and tested for yield, fibre diameter, staple length and strength under the standard procedures of AWTA and based on IWTO regulations. Fleeces will be allocated to their respective class according to test results. Vegetable matter - A default value of 1.0% will be applied for all fleeces. For any fleece visually greater than 1.0% vm, the appraised value will be substituted for the default 1.0% value and the clean weight adjusted accordingly. All benchmarks will be surveyed annually and adjusted in June each year. Implied values will be based on AWEX wool types Eastern Market indicator averaged for the July 2012 to June 2013 selling season supplied by AWEX. The Committee reserves the right to not issue Champion awards in any section subject to the overall judging criteria. Each fleece must be accompanied by the fleece card, specifying the name of the exhibitor phone contact, section entered, etc., Additional fleece cards are available from Landmark wool personnel - contacts listed on the back of this brochure. The judges' decision is final and no discussions will be entered into. Fleeces will only be accepted from sheep which have been the bonafide property of the exhibitor for at least 6 months prior to being shorn. Fleeces must be shorn from the current season ie July 2012 - June 2013 All fleeces must remain on display until the conclusion of the show in the fleece exhibition area. Exhibitors will be able to collect fleeces after 4pm on Sunday 21st July, or before or after the ram sales Monday 22nd of July. Please note that all fleeces will be covered by insurance from property to show and return. Winners of major fleece sections and State Champions will be kept for display purposes at a public viewing area AWH Wool Centre - Melbourne and the main foyer of the Wool Centre - Brooklyn during the next 12 Months. (State Champions to be displayed in home State.) Entry forms can be obtained from the Australian Sheepbreeders Association, Landmark Wool Staff (In each State) or from the following websites: www.landmark.com.au or www.sheepshow.com All fleeces from outside Australia will only be accepted if they comply with AQIS regulations. Exhibitors contact details may be provided to media or show sponsors as part of show promotion or structured sponsorship agreements. A trophy for the Most Successful Exhibitor will be awarded to the exhibitor with the greatest number of aggregate points in each breed section, providing each individual fleece scores a minimum of 75 points.
